Cookie notice
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. This page lists every one this site is responsible for, what it does, and how to switch it off.
Last updated: 8 August 2026
The short version. We do not use cookies to build a profile of you or to advertise to you. We use two measurement tools — Google Analytics and the Pinterest tag — to see which pages are worth writing more of. That is the whole of it.
What we use, and what it does
Analytics — Google Analytics 4
Sets cookies in the _ga family, typically lasting up to two years. They give your browser a random identifier so that repeat visits are counted as one person rather than several, and record which pages you visited, how you arrived and which links you clicked.
We use this to answer questions like "does anyone read the muscle loss guide?" and "do people who take the lever check go on to read a guide?". We do not use it to identify you, and we have not enabled advertising features.
Measurement — Pinterest tag
Sets cookies including _pinterest_ct_ua and _epik, typically lasting up to one year. Pinterest is where most of our readers come from, and the tag tells us in aggregate which pins bring people who actually find the site useful.
Pinterest may also use this data for its own purposes under its own privacy policy. You can adjust what Pinterest does with it in your Pinterest account settings under personalisation.
Hosting
Our host, Netlify, may set a small number of technical cookies needed to serve the site and to protect forms from spam. These are strictly necessary and cannot be switched off without breaking the site.
Fonts
The typefaces are loaded from Google's font service. This does not set a cookie, but it does mean Google receives your IP address when a page loads.
Gumroad
When you click through to buy or download a workbook, you leave this site and arrive on Gumroad, which sets its own cookies under its own policy. We have no control over those.
| Set by | Purpose | Typical lifespan |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics | Counting visits and understanding which pages are used | Up to 2 years |
| Measuring which pins lead to useful visits | Up to 1 year | |
| Netlify | Serving the site and protecting forms | Session or short-lived |
Exact cookie names and lifespans are set by these providers and can change without notice to us. The table describes what they are for, which is the part that matters.
What we do not do
- We do not run advertising on this site.
- We do not sell or share your data with data brokers.
- We do not use cookies to track you across other websites for our own purposes.
- We do not use analytics to identify you personally.
How to control cookies
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, usually under Settings, then Privacy. Blocking them will not stop you reading anything here or downloading anything you have paid for.
- Google Analytics: Google publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Analytics on every site, at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
- Pinterest: personalisation and tracking can be turned off in your Pinterest account privacy settings.
- Everything at once: most browsers offer a "block third-party cookies" setting, which switches off both of the above.
Changes to this notice
If we add or remove a tool, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
